COMMISSION CONTROL OR A CITY COUNCIL?

GOVERNMENT OF SYDNEY.

NATIONALISTS DIVIDED ON CONTENTIOUS QUESTION

United Press Association —By Electrii 1 olograph—Copyright. SYDNEY, Jan. 19. The Civic Reformers and Nationalists have urged the Premier (Mr Bavin) to provide for the election of a new City Council at the end of the year, when the present term of the City Commission expires. The Greater Sydney scheme, fore-shadowed in the Premier’s policy speech, promises to be very contentious when brought before the Nationalist party. There is another section of the Nationalist and Labour supporters who contend that the term of the Civic Commissioners should be extended for another period of years to enable them to complete the good work which they have commenced.
