St. Louis states that a tornado originating in Indiana swept over Southern Illinois, turning northward, at the last . reports, towards Wisconsin. Telegraph communications with the stricken area are demoralised. The first reports indicated the possibility of a higher death roll and more extensive damage. The death toll,due to the tornado is now eleven. High winds over a large area demolished homes and schools. The majority of. the,dead 5 are children. A sudden rise in temperature, after tho cold period caused torrential rains in Indiana.
