SPANISH SIDE OF STRAITS TUNNEL

Selected by Experts WILL BEiLONG BEFORE SCHEME CAN PAY WAY LINK WITH AFRICAN LINES. Times Cable. Received Tuesday, 2 a.m. LONDON, Jan. 14. The Times Madrid correspondent states that an expert commission oT engineers, geologists and hydrographert has selected a point west of Tarifa from winch to begin work on the Straits of Gibraltar tunnel. It will select the point on the Africa* shore in February. Technical problems are not considered to offer great difficulties. The tunnel would be only two miles longer than the Simplon tunnel, but economically, the enterprise is regarded as hazardous, as the traffic it hardly expected to prove remunerative until the tunnel is connected with the African railways and this is unlikely to happen for many years.
