PLEA FOR LITERARY INTEREST IN DRAMA
H. A. JONES’ LEGACY OP ADVICE. United Press Association —By Electri« Telegraph—Copyright. Received Friday, 7 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 10. The late Henry Arthur Jones, tho dramatist, included in his will a message dealing with the futuro of tho theatre: “Several times, when i offered my best work to the public, regardless of my popular success, I encountered condemnation from both Press and public, I am convinced England canndl have modern drama worthy of her place amongst the nations until the great body of Englisr. men of letters take diligent and understanding interest in the theatre. I ask them to accept this legacy of a last few’ words in a spirit of forbearance and friendliness.”
Sir Rudyard Kipling, Sir Jas. Barrie, Mr. Arthur Pinero are , all indisposed and were unable to attend the funeral to-day.
