Mr. W. Cook, of Feilding, lias been appointed mechanical engineer with the Public Works Department and leaves for Grcymouth this month to lake up duty.

A resident of Monmouth street, Fending, lost five pigeons on Sunday as thu result of a visit from a ferret, which was still in the neighbourhood yesterday. Perfect weather was experienced at Plimmerton over tho week-end. Many Feilding residents are at present holidaying there. Mr. E. If. Graham, clerk of the Feilding Magistrate’s Court, who has. been on vacation in the South Island, returned to Feilding over the week-end.
