FIRE IN WANGANUI
MANY LARGE PREMISES ENDANGERED. \ Per Press Association. WANGANUI, Last Night. Fire, which broke out after eleven o ’clock on Saturday night, guttod the front portion of auction rooms in a block in Main street and ruined the stock. ■ ' y The brigades had a hard fight to keep tho blazo from spreading to adjoining buildings and old wooden premises at the rear. Had they caught, the fire would have endangered a large part of the block, which contains many important stores and the Bank of New Zealand. The origin of the blaze is a mystery, and the insurances are not available.
