The engagement is announced, of Phyllis Bertha, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Guy, Raumai F.oad, Bulls, to Doublas Ross, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Brookie, Parewanui, Bulls. Mieses L. and B. Dinan. of Dnnnevirkc arc staying in Waipukurau where they are guests of Mrs. N. Dinan. Mr., and Mrs. N. J. Metcalfe and Mrs. C. W. Borreson. who have spent the Christmas holidays at Napier and motoring in the Hawke’s Bay district, returned to Palmerston North yesterday, having experienced delightful weather for their holiday. Mrs R. A. Timms, of Russell street, Palmerston North, and her two children are spending the school vacation at Manly beach, Auckland. Miss R. Davies and Mr. .J. Davies (Waituna) spent the New Year vacation in Wairarapa and Wellington. Mrs J. E. Parsons and her daughter have left Palmerston North for a month’s holiday in Auckland.
