GARDEN PARTY
Glorious weather and a lovely garden added much to the enjoyment.of the party held in. the grounds ,pf ,the. residence of Dr. and Sirs E* C. Earnett, Fitzherbert avenue, Palmerston North, yesterday. The rose beds Were a picture, and held attention before most people could be induced- to buy from the attractive stalls placed in the shade of trees in blossom and leaf. The purple and blue of the cinerarias, the roses, the vivid gold of the marigolds, the several different greens of thet rees all blended together and made a perfect colour combination. Each stall did brisk businss and “General Funds” of the Y.W.C.A. will benefit greatly. , In charge of the ’ different stalls were: —Afternoon tea, Mesdames Phillips, Collins, Gibbs and helpers; fancy stall, Mesdames Ferguson, Lee, and helpers; sweets, Mesdames Aitchison, Baton, Christian, Misses McLagan, Jean Pacey and Fitzgerald; Cakes and produce, Messrs Grant and Searle; croquet competitions, Mesdames H. Sinclair, and W. Mouldey; hoop-la, Misses M. Mc/enzie and S. McClure; woodsawing and nail-dtiving Mr. Twigge; treasure hunt ,hostel girls.
