NECESSARY FOR CHAPLAINS.
Per Press Association. , CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 10. Special reference "was made at the Baptist Union Conference to-day tc the appointment of military chaplains. It was pointed out by Rdv. 0. W. Dun- ; cumb, formerly of Palmerston North, that it was possible to have men going into camps who wore 1 totally supposed to be the spirit of the camps. “There is," he said, “ a delicate situation operating in the camps." Mr. Duncumb praised tho supervision in training camps, where commanding officers were doing their best to stamp out anything undesirable. He wished to stress the need of, officers who were sympathetic, rather than to have men who might bo excellent in other directions, but not in sympathy-with military work’.
