KING’S PRIZE MATCHES
TRICKY CONDITIONS. Auustralian Press Association. Received Wednesday, 8.5 p.m, (SYDNEY, Oct. 10. Competitors on Anzac Range to-day were occupied with the first stage of tho King’s prize match, at 300, 500 and 600 yards . A moderate to gusty right _ front wind caught many oven experienced shots napping. In the Longficld aggregate which is for the six matches on Monday and Tuesday, Vennell was fourteenth with a score of 269, taking £4. Tho Dodds aggregate, for the three matches on , Tuesday, was won by Major James, of Concord, with 141. Melvor was twentieth with 136 and Vennell fifty-first with 133, each winning £l. In the Jamieson match, over 800 yards, two men, Poyitt (Sydney) and Hutchins (Yorkshire) with the possible, shared first place. Mclver (Potone) and Vennell (Masterton) were 16th and 30th respectively, each with 48 taking £l. In tho Johnnie Walker match, 900 yards, three competitors James, Cameron and. Sutton, all of New South Wales, tied with 49. Vennell was 86th and Mclver 90th, each with 44, taking £l. In. the Motton match, 400 yards, four tied with 40 the best scores being that, of Davies (Victoria) and Natt (South Australia). There were no New Zwlanders placed. The Longfiold Aggregate was won by James (Parramatta) with 276 points out of a possible 300.
