NEW SEVEN STORIED BUILDING COLLAPSES IN HEART OF PRAGUE

80 People Missing TROOPS AND FIREMEN DIGGING AWAY DEBRIS i STRUCTURE ALMOST COMPLETED United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Wednesday, 7.0 p.m. PRAGUE, Oct. 9. A seven-storied iron and concrete building which was being constructed in one of the most frequented thoroughfares, collapsed during the afternoon. Out of 87 workmen engaged, 60 are still missing, also 20. passersby. They are believed to bo beneath the- ruins. Thus far, 12 dead and 16 seriously injured, have been recovered from the debris. , .. i Two thousand soldiers, in addition to the whole fire brigade, are feverishly working to reach those imprisoned in the building. The cries of .the injured can be heard continuously. The missing include tho architect of the building, which was on tho point of completion. The head and limbs of a' woman who was wheeling a prambulator when the building! collapsed were found but there are no signs of tho baby. The President closed the Senate, which was sitting, when the news was made known. The Mayor has ordered that all new buildings in Prague be inspected within 24 hours. It is feared the death roll will he heavy. A well-dressed girl was crushed flat on the pavement beneath a massive concrete pillar, every bone of her body being broken. Tho collapse is attributed to the use of inferior material. , Tho architect has committed suicide.
