THAT HOCKEY MATCH
•v;- : (To the-Editor.) Sir, —Permit me -to have, this inserted in your valuable paper. I noticed in tb-day,’s • issue of the ‘ ‘ Times ’•’—‘ ■ Halcombc Notes’' "Ladies’ Hockey,” whereby a statement was made, "that it was 'arranged that the play-off match between Tokorangi and Hinemoa was to take place -tost Saturday.” - Your eorrespondcnt,;was., ; hot; correct; and; I wish emphatically fo refute that statement:' It was never arranged betwon the two teams poneerped, or between their respective representatives, nor it has ' never been arranged by the Association to have that match played that day. Therefore that day could not, and has never been officially declared for the match to be played on.-. To-k-orangi therefore had no need to; put in an.appearance. In taking the field, Hinemoa xwas very much out of'order.Furthermore, this match was not to decide the winner of the cup, but only the. West Section; the winner' then' plays Rangiwahia in the final for the Southfield Cup.—l am, etc., %■-
