MOTOR CYCLIST INJURED
Yesterday afternoon at about' one o ’clock a motor-cyclists named Thomas Henry Sayor, a married man, residing in .Morris street, collided with the south-bound Napier express at the Princess street railway crossing, and sustained a serious fracture to his right thigh. ; .. '•. . Mr. Bayer was proceeding along Princess street from the direction, of Church street and apparently did not see or hear the train which, fortunately for him, was travelling slowly at the time. Xho engine-driver had sounded the whistle as'usual and stopped the train, immediately after the collision. Mr. Sayer 1 and his motor-cycle were thrown on to the grass bordering the railway track, the rider sustaining severe injuries to his right ' leg, which necessitated Ms removal to the hospital. It'appears that Mr. Sayer, who is i) the employ of a Palmerston North fu* rier, was proceeding back to work.aftei his lunch at the time the accident decurred. On becoming aware of the oncoining train ho swerved to the left, thus’ taking the full force of the iropact on his right leg, which suffered t serious, fracture at the.thigh. Mr. Sayer’s wife is at present in England. » . 1 - . - Tho motor-cycle was practically uninjured.- ; , .- ■; . - .
