POWER BOARDS IN CONFERENCE.

WELLINGTON, July 26. 4 Some discussion took place a,t the Power Board’s Conference to-day. on a remit tliat definite powers be given to boards to require trees endangering power lines being removed or trimmed back by the owners, and that in the event of a board being compelled to do this work the cost of same bo recoverable from the owners of the land on which such trees are growing. The remit was lost. . •; .■ A remit was carried as follows: “(1) Por the purposes of providing extension lines required where guarantees are given, and of strengthening transmission lines to enable a greater load to bo carried, a board may l by special order, with the consent of the Minister) raise a loan over either the whole or of some defined portion or portions of its district, the amount to be raised in any one year not to exceed five per cent, of the original authorised loan raised for the construction of - the undertaking. (2) In the alter-; native it shall be lawful for the board for either of the above purposes to levy in any year a separate rate, cither on the whole or on some defined portion or portions of its district, the amount of such rate to be within the limits prescribed in paragraph one.” All the officers were re-elected. Mr. W. G. Galloway (Otago) was added the executive. -'
