OBITUARY—ME. BERT SPENCER. From Our Own Correspondent. . The many friends of Mr. Bert Spencer will regret to hear of his death which occurred on Monday evening last. Mr Spencer, who was recently 1 taken to the hospital in Palmerston North as a result of a fall from some scaffolding, brought about by an illness from which he has been suffering, was brought home again last Saturday and passed away on Monday. He was born in Wellington and was the third son of Mr. E. Spencer seur., coming to Shannon as a boy) where he attended the local school. Aged 42 years Mr. Spencer has taken a prominent part in all social and sporting activities in Shannon and his presence will be sadly missed on the bowling green and golf links. Deceased leaves a widow and two daughters of his first marriage. Messrs E. J. S. Spencer (Shannon) and A. .and G. Spencer (Palmerston North) are brothers, and Mrs G. Brookcr, Mrs E. Richards and Mrs E. Exton (Shannon) arc sisters. The funeral will leave St, Bede’s Church this afternoon at 2.30 p.m. for the Shannon cemetery.
