HOOKEY MATTERS, From Our Own Correspondent. Interest in hockey, grows apace. A Queen Carnival is being hold in aid of funds for the various teams, Miss Olive Eosc being voted queen for the Huimai club, and various entertainments tiro being organised to foster her candidature. On Thursday evening Mrs. F. Ward was hostess at a very successful party in aid of the Huimai Queen, and other such gatherings will be held shortly. In their last two matches tho local girls were quite successful being victorious in the game- with Ballance (4—3) and drawing with Paliiatua B. (3 —3). This week Huimai plays Hamua at Kohinui. OBITUARY. » Mr. Reginald Stokes. Much regret was felt in Kohinui when the news was heard,' that Mr. Reginald Stokes had passed away at the Pahiatua Hospital 1 early Saturday morning: The late Mr. Stokes was well known in the district, having worked at tho local factory last season, and being employed here at tho time of his death. Deceased was a particularly fine typo of young manhood —energetic, thoroughly trust: worthy, even ready to lend a helping hand, and a popular member of the community. His early demise (through pneumonia) came as a distinct shock; to all. To his relatives we extend our. sincere sympathy in their bereavement. Personal. Mr. and Mrs. Lynch liavo returned, from Wellington.*' Mrs. Don Piper has returned to; ‘ 1 Surrcydalc ’ ’ after spending an extended holiday in .the South Island. Mrs. Gunderson, who has;(been the, guest of her daughter, Mrs. F. Nagel, has returned to Putara. *, Mrs- J. D. Piper, accompanied-by her daughter, Miss Jessie .Piper, is visiting Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. S. Brooks have return-; ed to their home at Goto. Miss Elsie Olsen is home again afterspending an enjoyable holiday In .Wcl--lington. . Mr, T. E, Eosc is a Kohinui visitor to Wellington, •; Miss Zella Wall is at present staying with friends in Masterton, , ; Miss Laing, who has been the guest; of Mrs. W. E. Taylor, has left, for Wellington. She was accompanied byMiss E. Taylor,. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ellmcrs have returned from Wanganuii i ’ , Miss Gladys Gawith has befen the guest of her sister, Mrs. Kearney.
