The, local shipping office, a timber yard and hide stores are under water and also some residences. Part of tho bridge on tho Gordon Road has been washed away. The rainfall was 5.5 inches for 24 hours to 9 a.m., making 9 inches in 48 hours. . It is still raining heavily. Tho Waihou River is. rising rapidly. The road to Paeroa is impassable. The express from Tauranga was held up at Tirohia by flooding of tho line between there and To Aroha. The Waihou River is now in heavy flood. Parts ,of• To Aroha town and district are inundated. A washout on tho railway between Paeroa and To Aiyiha prevented the expresses from Tauranga and from Auckland, Thamosward, passing. •/
