Central School’s Fancy Dress Annnal Ball

The Central School Ball held at the entertainment hall at the Showgrounds last evening will go down on the school chronicles as' oho of the most successful and enjoyable ever organised..’ tt is estimated that just on 1500 children and parents were present—a splendid attendance. Decorations were charming, the supper room presenting a particularly attractive appearance, Miv Alex.v Clark, chairman, on behalf of tho school committee thanked the people for- their attendance; Ho mentioned that it was the committee's desire to - raise funds for the improvement of the- school grounds, and especially- did he.wish to thank the ladies’ committee. Thanks were also extended to. the judges. He had received apologies for absence from the school’s former headmaster, /Mr. de Berry, Mr. J. , A., Nash. M.P., at present in Wellington;,and Mr. Moore, headmaster of Weqt Bad School. His Worship the Mayor, Mr. A. J. Graham..then spoke a few words. He derived v much pleasure- at' seeing before him such an array or youth and Beauty arid expressed .appreciation at the work done by the parents, school committee,v and teachers in making all arrangements. Ho wondered if the children ever thought of the great sacrifices that were being made on their behalf. They had* a school that Was: second to none in the Dominion.
