LONDON WEDDING

DAME CLAEA BUTT’S DAUGHTER,

Bridesmaids in shaded pink dresses and poke bonnets attended Miss Joy Kennerley Eumford when she was married recently at the Holy Trinity Church, Kensington, "VV., to Major Claude Cross, Indian Medical Service (retired), ' The bride, who is 'the only daughter of Dame Clara Butt and Mr Kennerley Eumford, chose pink for, her bridesmaids because it was the colour worn by her mother’s attendants at her marriage in Bristol Cathedral on June 6, 1900. Their dresses were made in the style of those worn at her mother’s wedding.

Another picturesque , touch copied from Dame Clara Butt's wedding ceremony was the carrying'by the bridesmaids of tall staves instead of bouquets. Posies of pink flowers were at-, inched to the tops of the staves, and the effect with the quaint poke bonnets was charming. Mr Kennerley. Eumford gave* away his daughter,, a tall, slender figure in a simple cream wedding gown, a copy in the stylo of that worn by- her mother on her wedding day. It was embroidered with pearls. A tullo. veil was arranged over her black hair. Many people prominent in the musical world who are friends of the brido’s parents, witnessed the ceremony and attended the subsequent reception. > They included five of the guests-at Dame Clara Butt’s wedding—Mine. Clara Novell© Davies, Mr and Mrs. Ben Davies, and M. and Mmc, Tivadar Nachcz. . , - c. Damo Clara Butt wore an embroidered coat of parrot green:arid a hat of ■lichen green velvet. .'
