TWO MONTHS HARD FOR MUSICAL CHINAMAN. . A young Chinaman bearing tie melodious name of Sing On took his stand in the Magistrate’s Court dock yesterday morning in an endeavour to explain to Mr. J. L. On a further charge of tho theft of two watches valued at £5 7s. 6d from one Umberto Imperatrice, Sing On was remanded to appear : 'at " Auckland on July .20. . Somor Detective. Qitirke. told the Magistrate that Sing On’s name was really 'Something much less musical. Sing On, he evidently thought, an appropriate designation for the would-be purchaser of a gramophone. Sing: On’s carolling was evidently successful, for he obtained his gramophone which he promptly proceeded to transform into hard cash at a second-hand dealers. Sing On., said Detective (Juifko, or Bengcbu as his name really was, had two previous convictions against Ms name.- • ■■ ‘
