INCREASE IN GATES AT THE WINTER SHOW
GROWING POPULARITY OP FIXTURE. In his report upon the gate takings at tho recent winter show, tho gate steward, Mr. M. A. Eliott, stated at yesterday’s meeting of the general committee of the Manawatu and West uoast A. and P. Association that the records established last year and the ; year ‘before had again been broken, thus being evidence that the show remained arid continues to grow in popular favour. The following were the figures for the past .nine years, and it would be seen that they. had now passed the £2OOO mark: 1920, £1140; 1921, £1477; 1922, £1449; 1923, £1428; 1924, £1213; 1925, £1650; 1926, £1780; 1927, £IBOO. The comparison for each of the five days for last year and this-year was as
