From Our Own Correspondent. Dance in Aid. of Hall Funds. On Thursday evening about half past seven the Stanway Hall opened its big bright eyes, and merrily they winked 'and twinkled through the winter’s gloom as car after car slowed up to stop at its doorway. Grey-clad girlish figures hurrying to the ladies' dressingjroom, later emerged as brightly clad las butterflies, and when the lively I strains of the orchestra burst forth low there were who could resist them. Beautifully decorated with graceful ferns and native shrubbery by the hockey boys, the stage made a cool green background against which the frocks of the fair sex showed up to perfection. A ivory largo crowd was present, visitors 'arriving from Palmerston North, Pending, Marten, Halcombo, Makino, Cheltenham, Waituua, and Tokorangi, and a most enjoyable evening was spent, dancing being kept up till a very late hour. Extras were played by Miss M. Iwi.kau, Miss M. Jefferies, Mr. B. Wallace, and Mr. T. Parker. Among those present were: Mrs, T. Jefferies, navy mnrocain; Mrs. Howell, cyclamen raarocaiu; Mrs. If. Burgess (Halcombo), floral georgette, trimmed with black; Mrs. Harvey (Halcombo), deep rose pink georgette, trimmed luce to tone; and Miss G. Green, creme brocaded crepe do chcnc, crimson shoulder posy; Miss Gilbert, blue taffeta, pariniers of silver lace; Miss A. Craine, maize charmeuse; Miss M. Jefferies, blue and silver shot brocaded taffeta, shoulder posy of mauve flowers; Miss ; N. Green, poppy red crepe do chcnc, banded with gold; Miss K. Green, maize crepe do chone, and gold lace; Miss i\l. Howell, blush pink net, beaded with crystal and silver; Miss M. Jwiknu. navy crepe do chcnc, shoulder posy
