St. John’s Fancy Dress Ball

. . . . Delightful Juvenile Function . .. . .

St. John’s annual Children’s Fancy Dress Ball held at the Drill Hall, Feilding, last evening was an immense success. Nothing more colourful in th& way of children's dances has been seen before in Feilding—the effort eclipsed all prvious performances and has set a standard which will require much work to improve upon. The effective decorations used for the hockey and Plunket dances proved more than adequate to set off to perfection the vari-coloured costumes and the happy dancers and the combination of both produced a rare stone. The huge floor was crowded with the little dancers who had great fun whilst they waited for the music to strike up. Every credit is due to those responsible for tho organisation of the ball. Public patronage overtaxed the available accommodation and proceedings throughout were never more enthusiastic. Tho thanks of the community are due to' the splendid work of Mrs J. E. Barltrop who was the moving spirit in arranging the gathering, without her ser-vices-the ball could not have achieved the outstanding success it did. Her work was splendid. Associated with her were the following cheerful workers who also are commended for tho part they played in handling tho children on the floor, Mrs Fitzpatrick,, Mrs Kingston, Mrs Harding, Mrs Tankersley and Mrs Little, Miss Goodbeherc, the Misses Eliott (31, Miss Phillips, Miss Barltfop, Miss Geary, Miss Maguire, Miss Bartholomew, Miss Harper, the Misses Spain (2), Miss Ellerm and Miss Swainson.
