Children’s Ball for Carnival Queen

Last night the Empire Hall resounded with the happy laughter of children tho occasion being the Children's Plain and Fancy Press Ball in support of Miss Connie Onglcy, one of the queens in the St. Patricks Queen Carnival now in progress. Between three and four hundred happy children were present, the variety of costumes and colour having a most charming effect. Prize Winners. The.: judges were Mcsdamcs F. J. Nathan and A.-E. Mansford, and tho prizes were awarded as follows: — Bost-dressed Girl: Miss June Selwyn, Old English; best dressed boy, Fred Mantel, Mephistopheles; most original girl, Joan Richards, “None so Sweet”; most original boy, Ronald Miller, bag of cones; best pair, Molly Bonctti and Marie Tottman, Irish boy and girl. During the evening Miss Connie Onglcy danced an Irish jig and Miss Ngairo Goughian “The China Girl." Mrs Palmer was in charge of the entertainment of the young people which took the form of marching, dancing and games. Mr. C. McGrath was an efficient M.C. At about 10 o’clock tho children partook of a dainty supper after which the adults had the floor, an enjoyable evening being spent by both young and old. The Dreses.
