NOTE FORGER GETS TEN YEARS’ GAOL
OTHEE ACCUSED ACQUITTED Per Press Association. MELBOUENE, June 7. Stefan Karasiewiez was sentenced to ten years ’ imprisonment at the Geelong Court for the bank mote forgeries. John Howarth, Benjamin Taylor and Ealph Miller were found not guilty on charges of conspiring to forge bank notes and with being knowlingly concerned in the forgery of £5 bank notes. [Karasiewie®, a Eussian process engraver, was, with three other men, committed for trial in connection with the discovery of an elaborate ulant for forging notes, near Geelong. Many thousands of forged notes were also found.]
