BELGIAN WHO SENT COUNTRYMEN TO DEATH. [By Electric Cable-Copyright.] lAust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] PARIS, Mar. 6. A Belgian named La Perre, who was accused of treason to both France and Belgium, was sentenced to life imprisonment in a fortress. He was previously condemned to death in his absence by the Belgian Courts. The trial lasted five days. There was a constant stream of French and Belgian witnesses who stated that La Perre obtained their confidence when ho wished to get through Holland to England and then betrayed them to the German occupying authorities. It was stated that many British, French and Belgians lost their lives through La Perre’s treachery.
