WAIHI-TANAETUA LINE OPENING THIS MONTH

(“Times” Special.) AUCjKLAND, Last Night. Arrangements are being made for running this -week the first through trains over the now link railway between Waihi and Taneatua in the Bay of Plenty. This important section was recently completed by Sir W. G. Armstrong Whitworth and Company and establishes continuous railway communication between Auckland and tho heart of the fertile Bay of Plenty sheep farming and dairying region. The line will be finally examined on Friday by inspecting engineers of the Public Works Department prior to that department taking over at the official opening on March 28. This week a special consignment of stock will bo collected at all stations on the new route for transport north. Fertilisers probably direct from ships’ side at Auckland will be sent south.
