Fifteen Suggested in , Democrat Naval Bill AN ALTERNATIVE TO PRESENT U.S. PROGRAMME [By Electric Cable-Copyright,] (Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] (Received Tuesday, 11.20 p.m.) WASHINGTON, March 5. Representative McClintic, a Democratic mmember of the House Naval Affairs Committee, submitted a minority report proposing to substitute for the Committee’s Bill his own programme, which consists of fifteen submarines that will cost 75,000,000 dollars, and provision for changes in eighteen battleships making them serviceable as aircraft carriers costing 18,000,000 dollars. Ho said that actually the United States has 99,924 more tons cruiser strength than Britain. ■ It is expected the majority report ■will be debated in the Houso Oil tho thirteenth or fifteenth of March. Representative McClintic alleged that tho larger programme hart been proposed to supply employment in idle shipbuilding yards.
