Air Vice Admiral Sir William Sefton Brancker, addressing the Institute of Transport, stated that the first regular airship route would probably bo to Canada for which service two airships carrying a hundred passengers are now being constructed and are likely to be flying this year by a route via the Azores. A service may also be organised to Egypt. The airships would not compete with shipping but would be a useful supplement. Applauding Bert Hinkler's flight he said: “If one man can do that without ground organisation, with properly improved aircraft and organised night flying wo shall be able to do the Australia journey In 180 hours. This will be practicable within a reach of five or six years if we get down to it and spend money.
