And Also Most j Stalwart Youth | FOE FILM STARS Alexander Marky, famous writer and cinema director of Universal Pictures Corporation of America, who it will be recollected paid an ■ extended (visit to New Zealand two years ago, was so greatly impressed by tbe wonderful scenic beauties of what he (termed “The Paradise of the South ISeas,” that he decided to return to I New Zealand for the purpose of producing a supermotion picture for his 'company, with Now Zealand and Old Maori life as the background. Mr. Marky prepared a unique story for tills film and he is scheduled to arrive in Auckland with a staff of as--1 sistants and cameramen, on February 27th. Within a few days after Ms arrival ho will go into production in the North—and later in the South Island. Mr. Marky contemplates using I a large Maori cast for his picture and ho is particularly anxious to’ find the most beautiful Maori girl, and a Maori youth typical of his race, t| take the leading native parts in his film. Both must bo thoroughly conversant with Old Maori customs and know the most characteristic Maori dances. They must havo pleasant features and fine physiques, and photograph well. In order to give the Maori youth' of New Zealand an equal chance, Mr. Marky invites aspirants ,of both sexes to send tbeir photographs to Mm, together with a description of their height, weight, qualifications, etc., C/o Grand Hotel, Auckland, in .time, for hie arrival. I He will give every applicant careful consideration and select those most suitable for the purpose of his picture. In addition to tho principal . charateors,, other members ,of the-cast 1 will also be selected from among the applicants. It is Mr. Marky’s plan to take back .with him, the leading.members of bis j cast, for a tour of the United States, upon the completion of his picture. I Mr. Ma.Vy has been an ardent globe-trotter for. many years, and i throughout his travels ho has been singularly impressed by the almost universal lack of appreciation of the wonders of Now Zealand, His main purpose in making this film is' to acquaint the rest of the world with the i scenic charm of “The Great White Cloud’’ aud make Now Zealaid an ( ardent topic of discussion in the most distant comers of tho globe.
