QUEEN ALEXANDRA’S OWN FIRST A GRADE TEST
(Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. With A Grade bands contesting the Dominion Championship, the band contest entered on its most important stage this evening. There was an audience of close on 4000 which was treated to some really great performances. Seven bands faced the judge, Mr. W, Jackson. The bands appeared in the following order; Woolston, Wellington Tramway, Christchurch Municipal, St. Hilda (Dunedin), Queen Alexandra’s Own (Wanganui), Kaikorai (Dunedin), Grcymouth. No points were announced at the conclusion of the evening’s performances but the judge announced the placing of bands as follows— Queen Alexandra’s Own (Wanganui) Woolston. Kaikorai. Grcymouth Municipal. Wellington Tramways. Christchurch Municipal. St. Hilda. The leading bands were very closely placed, said the judge, and the championship was still anybody’s race.
