EX-DICTATOR PANGALOS AT PARLIAMENT’S BAR
[By Electric Cable-Copyright.] [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] ATHENS, Fb. 18. After seventeen months’ imprisonment in a Cretan fortress General Th. Pangalos, former Premier and Minister of War has been brought before a Parliamentary Committee of inquiry on six counts charging him inter-alia with illegally proclaiming himself dictator on January 4, 1926, and with holding an illegal election for President in April 1926, when he was elected as sole candidate. Other offences include the arrest and banishment of prominent citizens. The cx-Dictator immediately objected to the composition of the Committee pointing out it contained a, member of the Cabinet which ho overturned, also a member who acted as counsel for the men executed during his Dictatorship. The Committee privately considered this plea.
