SOUND-MOUTH SHEEP IN DEMAND
AT FEILDING EWE FAIR. BIG YARDING SELLS BRISKLY. Just now farmers throughout the countryside are looking round for ewes, and while private sales have been numerous, most attention is concentrated on tho ewe fairs, where a wider selection is generally offering. Just under twenty thousand ewes were yarded at the Fcilding fair yesterday, all of which came forward in splendid condition, affording buyers a rare oportunity of obtaining full value for their money. Mixed aged ewes were a particularly even lot, being generally well conditioned, as well as sound-mouthed. There were few exceptions, and the whole yarding changed hands under the hammer. The attendance was larger, and prior to tho opening of the sale there was much speculation, as to prices. It was not long before all present were able to appreciate that tho sale tvould be'a good one. Souuid-mouth sheep quickly commanded attention and brisk bidding followed. The highest price for mixed aged ewes, which were offered first was 26/7, obtained by Mr M.A. Conway, of Kiwitea for a line of 60 fouryear ewes. Mr J. J. Roberts obtained 25/1 for 100 four-year ewes, and for a line of 25 four-tooth to five-year sheep Jacob and Son, of Kiwitea, obtained 25/-. The highest price for a straight' line of five-year ewes was received by Mr W. Gibson, namely 23/6 for 160 ewes. The following arc the detailes of the sales. Mixed-Aged Ewes.
