A FARMERS’ CRICKET MATCH

WANGANUI FARMERS’ UNION V. FARMERS’ DISTRIBUTING CO. For some years an annual cricket match has been played between representatives of the Wanganui Farmers’ Union and the New Zealand Fanners’ Co-operative Distributing Co., and this year the game is to bo played at Marten. Previously the matches have been played at Wanganui when tho Distributing Company’s representatives have succeeded in gaining the victory, but this year the Farmers’ Union intend avenging themselves and securing their pound of flesh from their opponents. The 'following are tho teams: Wanganui Farmers’ Union: Messrs. J. Currie (captain), J. H. Thompson snr., J. Thompson jnr., A. D. Kitto, M. Stevenson, E. Clutterbuck, R. Euick, G. Turner, H. T. Carver, E. James, J. Waters. The Farmers’ Distributing Co. will field Messrs. T. Currie, G. L. Marshall (directors), Holland, On and Francis (Wanganui), Broad, Tidy, and Greenwood (Marton), Buist and Healy (Feilding), R. G. Anderson (Wellington). The representatives of the land comprise a number of excellent players, while tho Distributing Co. have such redoubtable men as Holland, Orr, Broad Tidy and several other first grade players. An interesting game should result and no doubt there will bo a largo crowd of interested spectators from both country and town. The game is to be played on Monday next, commencing at 11 a.m.
