JOINT MEETING BY RADIO IN LONDON AND IN NEW YORK
Electrical Engineers Pleased With Results ATMOSPHERICS DO NOT TROUBLE (A.P.A. and "Sun.”) (Received Friday, 7.20 p.m.) LONDON, Feh, 16. TTsing a irons-Atlantic wireless telephone and 1200 miles of land lines the British Institution of Electrical Engineers and the American Institute held a joint meeting in London and New For*. The Britishers transmitted from Rughy and received at Cupar, Scotland, "while the Americans used Long Island and Houlton, Maine. Loud speakers amplified the incoming messages. Firstly greetings were exchanged. The American president, Mr. Bancroft Gherardi, requested the British president. Mr. Page, as, head of the senior institution to take the chair. Mr. Pago in a speech of acknowledgement invited Mi. Gherardi to address the joint meeting. A number of speeches at both ends followed. ■ General Carter, an American, moved a resolution of satisfaction that wireless enabled the holding of the joint meeting. Sir Oliver Lodge seconded from London and the chairman put the motion winch was carried by acclama tion ' The American speeches and applause were heard with perfect ease in London, also by the large audience gathered in a hall adjoining the meeting room whither the messages were relayed. Sir Oliver Lodge said that the results were excellent. They were not worried by atmospherics.
