Following further heavy rain floods are reported in the valley of the Clarence River. The water invaded many homes in the low-lying portion of South Grafton, where boats were used to rescue the inmates. Thousands of acres of farm and grazing lands along the valley are under water and severe damage has been caused to crops and property. The body of an unknown man, a victim of the flood, was discovered. At tho latest report the waters were falling. Kempscy also reports a flood, several residents being compelled to leave their homes. Numbers of stock were drowned in, tho flooded areas. Splendid rains have been experienced on tho pastoral country out west. Wentworth reports nearly five inches and the town is partially flooded. Victoria, South Australia, and Queensland all report soaking rains with floods, railway and road washouts and considerable damage vo property and crops in some districts. FIREMAN PINNED UNDER ENGINE AND DROWNED. (Received Friday, 12.5 a.m.) ADELAIDE, Peb. 16. Floods caused several waahaways in tho Adelaide-Broken Hill railway. An engine overturned in the water at one of the breaks. A fireman named Middleton was pinned beneath it and drowned. The rest of the arew escaped.
