At th© meeting of the Foxton Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, the matter of changing the name ,of Palmerston North to Manawatu waa further discussed at length after which tho following motion was car ried;— “That this Chamber, while expressing no objection to Palmerston North changing it’s < name, takes strong exception to tho Suggested name of Manawatu being substituted lor that of Palmerston North, and that a, copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Manawatu County Council, and all local bodies throughout the Manawatu electorate. / (To the Editor.) Sir ( — l would like to’ mention as'a suggestion re alteration of the name for Palmerston North. There wais an estate close, to my father’s property in Hertfordshire, England, the name of , which was Temple Dlnsley, once th© property of Lord Palmerston and, if I remember correctly, Temple was a family namo of his. Though Temple- Dtnsley sounds very well, I do not know whether it is suitable for a town. Yours etc. CHAS, W. ROBERTS. Pahlatua, April 4, 1927. ’ ;
