WOOD SPLINTER DESTROYS EYE
COAL MERCHANT NOW TOTALLY BLIND. (Per Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. Mr. R. W. Comyns, coal merchant, of Oxford, is totally blind as the result of an accident which occurred yesterday. He was chopping wood when a piece flew up striking him on the eye, completely destroying it. Several years ago Comyns lost the sight of his other eye in almost a similar way. On that occasion he was breaking coal.
