The Rimutaka has arrived after the extinction of a fire in the forward chamber ’tween decks. Personal effects, and cases of meat were burnt and jettisoned, and wool, gum, copra, casein and glaxo, in number one hold were partly damaged. Steam affected the shelter deck carogo. The authorities condemned a quantity of meat damaged in number one lower hold.
