GIRL CITIZENS’ APPEAL

A PINE MOVEMENT. Tho Girl Citizen Movement has high measurements and standards. It does not forgot physical charm and well being, but it knows that there is in every girl a capacity and a desire for more than this: that there is a rarer beauty which comes from the possession of a keen mind and an idealistic spirit. An ideal Girl Citizen is one who is physically fit, getting wholesome recreation through sport and good times, whose mind is alert, reaching out to ever-widening inter, csts, who seeks and finds tho beautiful in people in the world around: who is learning tho ways of strong friendship: who. facing life honestly and choosing bravely, is building up standards that are true and fine; who is learning the joy of service. This movement has been singularly successful in Palmerston North, and to-morrow the directors of the Y.W.C.A., under which organisation tho movement is developing, aro making an appeal by means of a street collection for the carrying on of the work of Girl Citizenship. Tho slogan for tho appeal to-morrow is; ‘lnvestment in tho girls of to-day brings dividends in the national life of tomorrow.”
