ENGLISH AUTHOR’S REFLECTIONS. RESENTED BY ISLANDERS. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Last Night. According to Doctor Buck, the Rarotongans are greatly incensed at the reflections attributed to the English author, Mr. Rouble, to whom hospitality was recently extended on the occasion of his visit to the Islands. The statements are considered a gross abuse of hospitality. Dr. Buck states that Ariki Maka, who granted the author the use of his palace and service, possesses the best characteristics, and the highest Polynesian .descent. Regarding liquor, he states that the regulations provided and enforced, make conditions such as Air. Keable is said to have alleged, quite impossible.
