RAPID INCREASE PREDICTED. According to the Chief Australian Federal Capital Commissioner, Mr. J. H. Butters, the rise in land values in and around Canberra is such that it is inevitable that Canberra will, within 25 years, be returning sufficient revenue to pay the interest on the whole of the Commonwealth’s investment in the capital city. Mr. Butters made this statement when addressing- the Royal Victorian Institute of Architects lately. The position from the taxpayers’ point of view, he said, was satisfactory.
