THE NORMAL BOY

THE PERFECT LITTLE GENTLEMAN. The dirtiness of the smallL boy, which is such a chronic source of orfence to adults is not a fortuitous thing. When a boy of eight Says “I am now old enough nojt to have my hands scrubbed by Mummy” he is Olily expressing another side of the truth that he is old enough to wash his hands himself. At about eight years of age a boy is becoming “fedup” with his mother and t is perfect- 1 ly normal, right and proper thait ne should. It- is the boy’s interpretation of the fact that he la developing independence. If you see a boy or eight who is described by his mother as "ft perfect little genjtleman” ne extremely suspicious. That perfect little gentleman is failing to realise the sense ofj emancipation, and w-m presently shirk his responsibilities. —Df Crighton Miller.
