[By Electric Cable— Copyright.] [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] (Received Wednesday, 7.55 p.m.) LONDON, March 24. The Shakespeare Memorial Theatre has launched a world wide appeal for £260,000 to rebuild the burnt theatre and provide a perpetual endownment. The party leaders, Messrs. Stanley Baldwin, Ramsay MacDonald ana Lord Oxford signed a letter to the press of the world pointing out that it has been possible to see eight different plays in a single week at the theatre and the beneficial work was acknowledged by the King’s grant of a Royal Charter, but a theatre adequate fifty years ago was inadequate for spectators from all parts of the Empire who attend Shakespearian festivals. Millions of Shakespeare lovers in the Dominions and the United Sraltes will be eager to help in rebuilding and endowing the theatre on a worthy scale.
