OVERSEAS COMPETITORS
ARGENTINE AND SIBERIA
The Argentine is already a competitor to bo reckoned with in the butter market, and the possibilities of expansion are enormous. Hitherto, dairying and fattening have been combined, but here and there farsee. ing men are separating the two, as they realise that only by doing so can the greatest, profits be gained by cither. For the reason that Argentine butter arrives in England about tho same time as (that from Australasia, the competition is more serious than that from Russia, whose butter arrives in England during our autumn and winter.
Speaking of Russian dairying, reference is made more particularly to Siberia, where the possibilities of development can hardly be estimated Over such a vast area a very small improvement in general dairying methods would mean an enormous output of butter. It is to be these two potential competitors that Australasia must look for the severest competition sooner of later.
