(The flirst player to score 2000 runs in Tlunket Shield cricket Is J. S, Hicldleston, who made 204 runs for, Wellington against Auckland yesterday. Hidtlleston also has scored more centuries in Blanket Shield matches than any other player, yesterday’s being his fifth. .In 1021 he got 144 against Auckland. ( in 1922 he scored 118 against Otago, in 1923 he made > 103 against Auckland, and in 1924 be reached 150 against Otago. .Previously the largest number of centuries obtained in these'matches was credited to L. G. Hemus, of Auckland, who peached three figures in four of the contests.
