Scientists aro still searching for the perfect substance for stitching: up wounds. Plants, Insect and animal products have all been thoroughly tested. The eggs of the octopus when first laid are small, oval, translucent granules resembling grains of rice, cot quite an eighth of an inch long. They form along and around a common stalk, like grapes on a bunch, and each bunch is fixed to a rock or stone by a gelatinous secretion, and hangs. One octopus will lay .40 or 50 clusters at eggs.
