NOTES OF THE DAY
Many friends will regret to learn that Mr. W. T. Pratt, of Apiti, is somewhat seriously indisposed \Vith pneumonia. In the draught harness horse section ot the recent Feilding show, the Borough Council’s horse "Billy” took pride of place and the judge was so taken with the general appearance of the animal that ho expressed the opinion that “Billy” would take the prize in any show. The animal was certainly turned out very well and reflected great credit on the driver. The Power Board is still engaged upon the work of re-wiring in the town and many of the business houses are receiving new connections. During last week a section of the business quarter of Manctester street was receiving attention ■ and on Friday night for some reason or other the premises of A. H. Sutton and Co. were plunged into darkness. Being late shopping night the lack of the “white” light made matters rather awkward for patrons' and the staff and it was some time before the trouble was rectified.
