HAHN AND ROSE
MARATHON MEETING TO-DAY. [Per Press Association.] MASTERTON, East Night. The American athletes, Scholz and Hahn, spent the afternoon at training work, and Hahn was of special Inters est to a largo gallery of spectators, in view of hia first match with Roto.. Drizzling rain fell during ■ the afternoon, but the track was baked with the continued dry weather, and unless very heavy rain falls during the night, It Is not likely to be affected by any extent. Both Rose and Hahn, who spent the day together, are reticent to discuss to-morrow's battle, -and evadei questions ■' by eulogising each other’s performances. Hahn says his form could be better, and he thinks he will be striding his best during the South Island tour, - Likewise Rose has had a hurried preparation, owing to pressure of work on his farm, so on the score of, physical fitness, conditions are about equal.
