GOOD SALE AT TIMARTT, [Per Press Association.] TIMAKU, Last Night. The' second wool sale of the season in South Canterbury opened here tonight. The catalogue comprised 16,200 bales, compared with ll.oou bales offered at the first sale of Jhe season. The sale commenced at i.so p.m. and - continued till midnight, by which tlm e three catalogues had been disposed of. There was a full bench of about 70 buyers representing all wool-consuming centres of the world. Though several lots- were passed at auction, most of these wore afterwards sold privately. Bidding for many lots was very keen, especially for half-bred wools and tho prices obtained to-night for finer wools were about on a par With those realised at the first sale in Timarh, coarser wools , being • down slightly, as compared With the opening sale. The catalogue comprised chiefly hill countiy clips and of finer quality than was previously evidence. Super .half-breds- were. most keenly sought after. Low half-breds and three-quarter-breds. although realising good prices, did not meet with spirited competition. Bellies and pieces were in keen demand, though bidding for these was somewhat erratic. Merinos were about on par with Dunedin sale. Following : were the top prices for the two catalogues disposed of up to tho time of telegraphing:—Merino, 20d; Corriodole, 18|d; super half-bred* 20|d; medium half-bred, 16Jd; coarse half-6red, Hid; fine cross-bred, 13id; medium cross-bred, vl9 id; Merino pieces, 153 d; bellies, 12Id; half-bred pieces, 14&d; pieces, 14|d; cross-, cross-bred pieces, lOd; crutchlngs, 9id; looks: Merino, Bid: half-bred, 7d; three-quarter-bred, 6a.
